The Blue Gate Theater is proud to bring you the Las Vegas-style tribute show "Salute to the Stars". This installment of "Salute to the Stars" includes world-class tributes to Reba McEntire, George Strait, & Elvis!
Larry Turner as George Strait
When the father of the man you're paying tribute to, tells you that you resemble his son, you know you must be doing something right. This occurrence is exactly what happened with our very own Larry Turner, who performs as George Strait for Legends. With many people referring to George Strait as the "King" of country music, we're proud to have a singer who so
closely resembles him. Interestingly, Larry Turner received this compliment from Strait's father before deciding to become a professional tribute artist. Turner grew up playing music, and started playing professionally
in 1976, receiving nine years of vocal training along the way. Rather than focusing on country, he developed his talent as a gospel singer. As part of a gospel quartet, performing as a soloist and lead singer, Turner's group played for
eleven years in the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. It was in this capacity that Larry met and performed for George Strait's father. Shortly thereafter, Larry and his wife came to see
Legends in Concert, and that's when Turner realized he could have a career wowing fans as a George Strait tribute artist. Challenging himself to transition into a country music role, Larry has since developed an incredibly
impressive act as George Strait. He now regularly pleases the audience with his renditions of George's songs, like "All My Exes Live in Texas" and "Amarillo By Morning". Throughout his career, Larry has proved his musical worth time and time again. His talent earned him the privilege to perform for the President of the United States, the KC Royals, the NY Yankees and the Texas Rangers. He sang at the gospel version of the Grammy's, the Gospel Music Dove Awards, and now he sings for the audience at Legends. Whether you are familiar with George Strait's music or not, when you see a performance from Larry Turner, you're bound to be impressed.
